Victoria has one of the most comprehensive emergency data ecosystems. Emergency Management Victoria (EMV) publishes a single GeoJSON feed covering all incident types. Additional feeds provide fire area boundaries, SES incidents, flood observations, and CFA fire danger ratings.
Agencies: EMV (all incidents), EMV-FIRE (fire areas), EMV-FLOOD (flood observations), SES (storms, floods), CFA-FDR (fire danger ratings)
| Feed | Format | Update | Coverage |
|---|---|---|---|
| VIC EMV OSOM | GeoJSON | 60 sec | All emergency types |
| VIC Fire Areas (EMSINA) | ArcGIS REST | 5 min | Fire boundary polygons |
| VIC SES (EMSINA) | ArcGIS REST | 2 min | Storms, floods, rescues |
| VIC Flood Observations | ArcGIS REST | 5 min | Flood gauge data |
| CFA Fire Danger Ratings | RSS | 5 min | Total fire ban forecasts |
Timestamps: DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM:SS in 24-hour local time. Requires timezone-aware parsing (AEST/AEDT).
Geometry: The EMV OSOM feed includes both point and polygon geometries. Fire areas from EMSINA provide detailed boundary data.
Auth: All feeds are public with no authentication.
Strength: Victoria is the only state where a single feed (EMV OSOM) covers all incident types in one request.
